Harvest Time at Honeysuckle House

It's been a long, hard summer in our area with an ongoing drought, a grueling fire season, and weeks of triple digit temps. Needless to say, my family and I are ready for a change of pace. Today, we cleaned out our corn and pumpkin patch and harvested apples from the tree in our front yard. It's so gratifying to grow your own food, even if it's on a small scale as it is on our 1/4 acre suburban lot. I come from a long-line of gardeners and farmers, so it makes my heart happy to be able to share this heritage with my children. Fingers crossed for baking weather this weekend so I can try out all of the apple recipes I've been collecting on Pinterest. Because the only thing better than a fresh-off-the-tree apple is a fresh-from-the-oven apple pie!
